I'm into the second month venturing forth into the world of X-Plane (9.22) and I thought I'd share...
Here's what I've found so far:
1. Figured out the control settings and how to get rid of the elevator 'twitchys' that seem to be a pervasive FS issue. There are a huge amount of setting adjustments and parameters in X-Plane which take a while to figure out but they seem to have forgotten that some aircraft have cowl flaps :-)
2. They're right about the difference in flight dynamics between FSX and X-Plane. X-Plane is amazing + you can actually do side slips, stalls, spins etc.. + 'heavy aircraft actually fly with a 'heavy' feel to them.
3. Don't like the synthesized ATC voice. I miss my 'sexy' female controller in FSX :-)
4. Don't care for the 'barren' scenery at airports.
5. Don't care for the lack of A/I traffic.
6. Ground detail is OK in built up areas. Will need to venture into add-on scenery in the future.
7. Just like in FSX.... cloud detail is an FPS 'killer' !
8. Not too impressed with the selection or quality of freeware A/C + I found a couple of payware planes that looked pretty good... so I splurged (2x$30 Cdn) + bought them. Well worth the $.
Bought the Shade Tree Micro - Beaver + the X-Scenery Mitsubishi MU2 Marquis. So far both are 10 out of 10... visually and from a flight dynamic perspective. There are definitely some amazing X-Plane A/C designers out there !
With the addition of these two A/C... I now find myself getting 'hooked' on X-Plane + looking forward to month 3.
+ Here's some additional info. FYI.
Enjoy !!
